There are numerous car racing events which each appeal to different motor sports fans and are each set in different locations. The official FIA World Touring Car Championship is one of the top racing events in the bursting motor sports timetable. First devised in 1987, the WTCC series is held all over the world including locations like Great Britain, Morocco, Spain and Japan. Other popular motoring events include the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the FIA World Rally Championship and the Dakar Rally Raid. The NASCAR Nationwide Series and the Le Mans Series are also two of the top car racing championships.

F1 racing is regularly seen as one of the most enthralling motor sports around to watch. The sport that we know today derived from inter-war period racing but it was only in 1950 that rules were set down, with the first Formula_One event occurring in 1950. While Grand Prix races have been staged all over the globe, one constant is always there - the car firms who invest money into their teams annually. The famous Formula One firms include Ferrari, Renault and McLaren, although in recent years Red Bull and Jordan have raced successfully. The people have always watched for the drivers, from the poise of Nikki Lauda through to the driven Stefan Bellof.

Also called motor racing, car racing is simply the racing of cars for sport and is easily one of the best and most viewed sports in the world. It's believed auto racing began almost immediately after the first gasoline-powered vehicle was produced and it's thought the very first car race in the world in 1894 by a French magazine called Le Petit Journal. The first car race track started in Paris and ended in Rouen and attracted key auto manufacturers like Peugeot and Panhard as well as various private automobile owners. Although car racing continued to flourish over the years, it wasn't until the 1930s that the first pure racing automobiles were built, with high performance vehicles from auto manufacturers like Auto Union and Bugatti changing the outlook of motor sports forever.
